<image:caption>Flex Cube is a sculpture/object. It fits a true cube with all equal sides. It twists, suggesting movement and a transformation point between dimensions, seeking to identify the origins of form. The constantly changing angles of its surface reveal surreal, distorted reflections; in certain positions there can be one, two or even three reflections at once. This experience pushes an observer into another dimension, inviting discovery of what is real or surreal on a very personal level. The result is a safe yet compelling interactive encounter with your other self. Medium: Bronze Dimensions: 1' x 1' x 1' (also available in 8" x 8" x 8")</image:caption>

<image:caption>Encircled by palm trees lining the outdoor grounds of Park La Brea, a fossil-like sculpture of a saber tooth cat emerges, half-sunken, from a sandy floor. To the passer-by and the public imagination, this skeletal sculpture injects a modern, iconic interpretation of natural history into the realm of unusual public artwork. However contemporary its purpose may be, the sculpture's dramatically enlarged scale and dinosaur-like appearance produce a playful investigation into the prehistoric life force that once animated Los Angeles' sprawling desert basin. Only blocks away, the La Brea tar pits - one of the most recognized fossil localities of the Earth's last Ice Age - draw crowds of thousands each year to study and learn about its peculiar geographical and geological personality. These remarkably life-like, sculpted remains of a storybook creature bring imaginative access to La Brea's fossil excavation pits and unearth the forgotten history of a modern metropolis. Residing at a unique juncture of the arts and recreation, and delicately integrated with its surrounding landscape, this sculpture also has a practical purpose: a children's playground and climbing structure. While interactions with fossilized remains are typically limited to detached observation, this sculpture invites the viewer to touch, explore, and discover its disjoined features.</image:caption>

<image:caption>The building that today is Wallenberg Hall (Building 160) at Stanford University was completed in 1900. Funded by the generous gift of Thomas Welton Stanford, Leland Stanford's younger brother, the building has served as the library, the administrative center, the law school and home of the department of political science during its 100-year lifespan. Two marble statues of Benjamin Franklin and Johannes Gutenberg had been mysteriously missing from their perch above Wallenberg Hall since 1949. A second pair of statues, depicting Louis Agassiz and Alexander von Humboldt, were sculpted in 1902 and still stand in place above the entry to Jordan Hall. Oleg Lobykin re-created the missing statues based on historical photographs and other evidence to match the originals as closely as possible.</image:caption>

<image:caption>Are humans subject to the vagaries of nature or is the environment at risk from humans? Whichever way we look at it, there is an undeniable connection between the two. Shark Fin stands as a literal and metaphorical reflection of this reality. Sculptor Oleg Lobykin sees this conceptual artwork as a symbol of awareness about the human impact on nature and our interconnectedness with our environment. Although the form of a shark’s dorsal fin is a familiar one, the scale of the sculpture and its shiny stainless steel surface invite us to reflect on our perception of our place in nature and the many ways we shape our own environment. Technology is perhaps our most important tool because it both enables and represents our most important achievements as a species. Technological progress is often met with excitement for future possibilities and an equal amount of fear for unintended consequences. In terms of this duality, our relationship with technology mirrors our relationship with nature. The shark is a powerful and emotionally compelling symbol for us. Its ancient attributes of stealth and power fire our imaginations and demand respect even as they arouse both dread and courage. When a person calls another a “shark” we can determine only from context whether the intention is a compliment or an insult. This mix of fear and fascination is an example of a kind of harmony in contradictions that the artist’s work often explores. Medium: Stainless Steel</image:caption>

<image:caption>Peter the Great founded St. Petersburg and called the entrance to the Baltic Sea a "Window to Europe." In memory of this historical event, which is connected directly with the birth of one of the great cities of the world, I propose to construct a monument in the form of a window frame that appears to rest on the surface of the Gulf of Finland. The proportions of the design of the frame represent the "Golden Ratio" (also known as "Divine Proportion"), a harmonious link to the classical beginnings of our city. Standing 300-500 meters from the shoreline, "The Window" faces West and the stainless steel surface reflects like a mirror the sky and waters of the Gulf of Finland. <image:caption>The 2010 Land Art Generator Initiative international competition invited artists to submit designs for public art installations that combine aesthetics with clean energy. Oleg Lobykin submitted this design. Hundreds of entries were received from over 40 countries. This one was judged among the dozen most practicable. Solaris is a sculptural art installation comprised of hundreds of photovoltaic panels arranged in the pattern of a familiar cultural ornamental. This approach combines the benefits of modern technology for producing solar energy as electricity with a visual representation of traditional images having cultural significance. Due to its size and proximity to the airport, the site offers an opportunity to showcase a design from an aerial vantage point that is quite distinctive and provides an attractive alternative to a strictly utilitarian configuration of panels in flat straight rows.</image:caption>

      <image:title>Sculpture</image:title>
<image:caption>The arrangement of the solar panels in this proposal is intended to be illustrative of the concept. Airline travelers to and from Abu Dhabi would be able to view the design as they approach or depart the city by air, while visitors to the site at ground level would experience a sensation of passing along the coast of an "industrial ocean" by car from the road. Stopping at the site, visitors would be able to walk under the "canopy" of an "industrial jungle" to the dome-shaped visitor center and observe any changes in the shape or location of the coastline that may have taken place since installation. In this way, viewers would see Solaris very differently depending upon their perspective in relation to it. The Solaris installation would generate environmental awareness using the universal language of art.   </image:caption>

<image:caption>Art inspired installations might have significant aesthetic value and can benefit communities by improving the visual landscape and encouraging the adoption of safe, renewable energy technology. Because solar energy capture and conversion technologies are still relatively new, they have not yet been deployed in sufficient quantity to achieve economies of scale and production cost reductions that would result from it. Combining the benefits of attractive design with non-polluting, sustainable, renewable energy generation could accelerate the adoption of these technologies.</image:caption>

<image:caption>Talking Heads reflects the Burning Man festival in Black Rock City, NV. Talking Heads is an 18-ft high abstract sculpture, a spatial composition based on a balance between negative and positive space in conjunction with a line that can create an image or point of reference to spark imagination. The open-ended title invites you to consider. What comes to mind as you regard the piece? Maybe you see some seeming silhouettes, maybe your association jumps to music, or perhaps political pundits cross your mind. What if there are little voices inside your head arguing over what it means? Media: Stainless Steel Dimensions: 18’ x 7’-6” x 7’-6”</image:caption>

<image:caption>Neuron is a stainless steel free-standing abstract sculpture with a highly polished, mirror-like surface. It appears as fluid mercury, capturing a sense of life and spirit of the unknown. It’s inspired by the balance of physical matter and spirit in all things. The work was done completely intuitively based on imagination. No images for reference or any other data was used. The composition is based on a balance of negative and positive space and free-hand line that creates a biomorphic form or an object with a soul. Where and how does it start and continue life on its own? Media: Bronze Dimensions: 16” x 26” x 9”</image:caption>

      <image:title>Sculpture</image:title>
<image:caption>The tiny pixel that transforms data and information into images can be seen as a visual symbol of the Digital Era and Silicon Valley. Artist Oleg Lobykin translated the pixel into sculptural form, an object with a twist. The stretched and twisted square fits a cube that creates a parabolic surface. In polished stainless steel, just like a mirror, it reflects reality… to a degree. 90 degrees, to be specific: the reflection of the surroundings is inverted. Approaching the piece, viewers will notice their own reflection transforms from the 90-degree inversion back to a normal reflection without the shift, in just a few steps right in the front of the object. Moving forward and backward, they see a transformation of reflections. Observing shifting realities, the experience of interacting with Pixel would be surreal. Pixel represents the connection between the digital world and our physical reality. It’s a transformation point between dimensions. The interplay of light, shadows, and reflections of nature or contemporary architecture in dynamic movement in bold geometric form will impact the space and challenge viewers’ perceptions.</image:caption>
